Spring Together Intergenerational Camp at Merricks

It was great to see so many MUC people involved in the family camp. Fifty or so people stayed full time with more staying for one night or coming down for the day. We ended up with ninety people participating in the Sunday afternoon communion service. Celebration of 65 years of Rev Fred Webber’s Ministry

On 21 October, 80 members of MUC gathered for a combined worship service at Woodhouse Grove.  At the same time, 90 fellow members were enjoying activities at the UCA Merricks Lodge campsite. Visiting members received a warm welcome from Grove regulars including a special welcome from Grove stalwart David Lord. Celebrate Ageing – Forget me Nots

The Fellowship@10 service led by Chris Mitchell  also focused on the story of the infant Jesus being received in the temple by Simeon and Anna both of whom had awaited the coming of the Christ and had lived righteous lives. We put aside our thoughts about the theology of the wording and sung some old favourite hymns such as ‘Trust and Obey’ and ‘Blessed Assurance’ and Closed with returning to an old Sunday School chorus ‘We have an anchor’! Celebrate Ageing – Fellowship@10’s Celebration

On the cusp of Dementia Awareness Month (September) and Victorian Seniors Celebration (October), services to celebrate ageing were held on 30 September in all MUC’s worship locations. At both Fellowship@10 and Woodhouse Grove people were encouraged to exhibit the freedom to dress as they pleased in the spirit of Jenny Joseph’s poem‘Warning’ Over morning tea we shared cupcakes decorated with forget-me-knots lovingly prepared by Jenny.
